About Us

The ChemiNoles Graduate Student Organization is a Florida State University recognized student organization. Our members are undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral scientists within the FSU STEM fields.

Our Mission:
The purpose of this organization is to provide a support network for FSU Chemistry graduate students. It will function to provide an opportunity for community among these students, to allow them to share research and teaching experiences, work together for scientific outreach, and serve as an organized voice for Chemistry graduate students at FSU. The organization will also seek to aide in professional development for students in the sciences both graduate and undergraduate, and promote the love of science in the greater community.

Our Goals:
Foster a relationship with the community through outreach events hosted by the ChemiNoles GSA. We hope to engage the youth of Tallahassee and encourage them to look at the world through science. We also intend to promote the FSU Chemistry & Biochemistry department by educating the community on the type of research currently conducted at the university.
Promote the research within the Chemistry & Biochemistry department through networking events open to all students and by disseminating essential information within our department through a new ChemiNoles GSA website. Our community events will allow undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral scientists to gather and discuss current research. We also plan to create departmental training videos to assist in acquiring qualitative and quantitative data that will be readily available to all.
Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration between departments in FSU. The specialization of many scientific fields has also formed a divide between many STEM disciplines. However, research also calls for collaborative efforts between many varying sciences and mathematics. The ChemiNoles GSA will help bridge these divides through interdisciplinary events and collaborations with other organization on campus such as the Graduate Women in Science, Biomedical Science Graduate Student Association, Students for the Effective Communication of Science, STEM Student Association, and so forth.
